The Most Tattooed Male Romance Cover Model in the World
John Quinlan
I met John Quinlan online three years ago. We chatted, and became fast friends. I have enjoyed every one of our conversations. I thought John would look awesome on my first printed book cover, and I was right. My cover with John on it, Jessica's Obsession, I am sure, helped me reach Amazon's Hot New Releases in February 2013 because of John and his tats on that cover. We were #2 only to the Mistress of Tats herself, Von D. The book stayed on the top Amazon list for Body Art & Tattoos for an entire month. I am pleased to say, Jessica's Obsession is John's 1st, printed Romance Novel Book Cover.
Interesting fact about John and covers, from Wikipedia.
Quinlan was used in 2000 as an art model by Brian Dow,[77] an illustrator of children's books, book covers, advertising and editorial illustration for a self-promotion piece inspired by Harry Potter and author J.K. Rowling.[78] Dow used Quinlan's physique in a digital painting and colored pencil illustration as the body of an evil troll. The image was also used on the cover of the paperback book "The War of Trolls" (Scream Shop Series #8) by Tracey West,[79] illustrated by Dow.
When I got in touch with John and told him this was one I didn't know about, he said, "Long time ago, lol."
Well, that sums it up John, lol.
John has for a long time put out on his Facebook page, if you want to know more about me, just ask. He told writers, and bloggers to send him interview questions, and he would answer them honestly. It's been a while since I've officially interviewed John, it was time.
Q: Recently I created a page about Anti-Bullying, Writers Against Bullying, when I asked you to help support the cause and do a selfie, you jumped right in, and came through. What exactly does it mean to you to support causes like anti-bullying?
John: As a parent of 3 young children, bullying is something that really bothers me. In society today we see bullying on the rise and something needs to be done about it. It feels good knowing I have helped the cause to end bullying in schools.
You are right about that, there is a rise in bullying John, especially in work related cases. People are getting frustrated though, we need to come up with more positive ways to handle situations that occur in the schools, work places, and at home.
Q: There are fake people in the world, and I know you for one, do not do fake. However, how do you stay so humble, and keep the truth straight when it comes to people you talk to, especially your fans?
John: Taabia, I been around the block in this business off and on for over 25 years and I have seen a lot during that time. To be honest with you I never viewed myself as that special and more often than not I always just tried to hang in there with the greats. I guess having good role models made me a better person throughout the years.
Through growth, I think we all can be better individuals, if we choose the right paths. If anyone would like to get a glimpse into Johns world, feel free to follow him on Facebook @JohnQuinlan, and his Facebook fan page, 4 John Quinlan Fans.
Q: People who know anything about you, know you have a great healthy body, but seriously, what about those cheat days?
John: As I have grown through the years I have come to appreciate those days more than ever. I love my famous Bianchi's Pizza on Revere Beach not too far from my home and coffee Oreo hot fudge sundaes are my Kryptonite.
Omygosh, Oreo! Yum!!!!
Let's throw a quirky question in here.
Q: You have two minutes to pack for a trip around the world, but you can only take 1 item, no family, and it can't weigh over six pounds. What do you grab, and why?
John: Deodorant, nothing worse than body odor which is the biggest turn-off this world has ever known.
Lol, you hit that one on the nail! Nothing like a man who smells of a fresh shower and aftershave. Oi Oi, let's move on.
Q: Physique trainer, clothing model, ex-professional wrestler, book cover model, and now nude model. You have said you are proud of how your photo's turned out. Have you had people speak negatively about the photo's?
John: No, the worse I have ever gotten is from a few people who said they couldn't believe I did it. One of my guys said to me, "John, 1000's apply and out of those 1000's they chose you to be nominated for Playgirl's June 2013 Hunk of The Month." As a model I was proud of that and went where my heart was. I went for it with no regrets. Amen.
Personal note, those pictures ........ (insert Cheshire cat's grin)
Q: Many know you as, The Most Tattooed Romance Cover Model in The World. Have you decided to keep getting tats to keep that title?
John: I have 27 individual tattoos and I am currently the most tattooed male romance cover model in the world. My thought on this is if another model comes along with more and takes the title away from me so be it because I was the very first one. I was the first guy and because of John Quinlan the doors are now open for other tattooed models to get into romance who before might never have because the stereotype was always there.
Here's another quirky question for you. You are given the superpower speed. Where would you go if you could run at the speed of light, and why?
John: That is a question I have never been asked before. I would go to Las Vegas and enjoy everything the city has to offer. Great food and drinks along with all the shows. I would catch a championship MMA fight for sure as I am a huge fan.
Now that I would have not thought of for an answer. That's awesome.
Q: One of my favorite tattoos as you know is that belly button tat. It gives one pleasurable thoughts. What do you know about Zodiac Signs? Did you know your birth sign Scorpio is said to have a big sexual appetite?
John: The belly button tattoo is unique and special just all of my tattoos yes. I am a Scorpio and as far as a sexual appetite you are right on the money here as it is quite large.
John, you can always make me smile.
Q: There's a quote that you like, " Sometimes to get to heaven you have to go through hell." Where did the quote come from, and what does it mean to you?
John: It is my own personal quote that describes my life. Anything I ever did worth speaking about required lots of sacrifice and hard work. It wasn't easy and there were times I suffered along the way but in the end it all came together for me and that quote says it all.
Q: The young John Quinlan, was he as ambitious as the John the man? Who inspired you back then, and who inspires you today?
John: Always ambitious but it took quite a bit of time for me to get serious as I am a big kid myself. The John Quinlan today is finally serious about doing the best he can. So many people have inspired me over the years. I was always inspired by the "underdog." The guy who was never expected to be successful, the guy who was never even given a chance because he was to small, the guy who was passed over by so many and had to work double as hard as everybody else just to match up." Those are the people who inspire me. By the way all those examples I just gave really hits home as I was referring to myself.
Q: John what is Elizabeth Grady?
John: The Elizabeth Grady Company specialized in aesthetics and massage therapy as well as all kinds of skin care products & spray tanning. There are locations throughout the north eastern United States. I was honored to be selected as a spokes model for them in 2014.
Q: Are you involved in any charities at this time?
John: Having been involved in helping 2 previous breast cancer campaigns along with many children in St. Croix through the Holiday Hope Program, I am currently very happy to be helping you Taabia spread the word helping your anti-bullying campaign. Your cause is one I truly believe in.
Q: What does 2015 hold for John Quinlan?
John: I am waiting on the word about a movie I have been cast in that is set to begin filming in early 2015. There is also a reality show about fitness I will be in when the time comes for that as well.
Last question, it's the year 3014, the future class of 3016 have to do a presentation on someone from the past. Six students were given your name. What are some key things they will find out about you, and how you lived?
John: I think they will see that I was multi-dimensional. I was an athlete, model, fitness competitor and actor. I wasn't limited to just one thing in the game of life. I hope they see that I was very passionate about everything I did and worked very hard to achieve the success that came my way.

Thank you John, great Q&A session.
